Reside Pro Athletes, Bryan Wickenhauserand Brian Smith, won the Elk Mountains Grand Traverse on March 31st. This epic backcountry ski race challenges racers in a 42-mile route from Crested Butte, CO to Aspen CO. The course includes more than 7,000 feet of ascent and takes place mostly between the elavations of 11,500' and 12,400'. Reside Pro Eric Sullivan and teammate Mike Haney captured 5th place. For more details on the race, go to www.elkmountainstraverse.com. Congratulations to Wick, Smithy, Sully and Mike! Reside Pro Athlete Eric Sullivan earned a 2nd Place overall finish in the Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon in Grants, New Mexico. The Mt Taylor Quad is a 43-mile race up and down the highest peak in Northwest New Mexico (elev. 11,301'). The race consists of four stages: road biking, running, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. With a time of 3:33:55, Sully finished less than three minutes back. Congratulations to Sully! Reside Pro Athletes, Brian Smith and Brian Wickenhauser, placed 2nd at the grueling 'Power of Four' ski mountaineerring race in Aspen, CO on March 4th. The 'Power of Four' challenges teams of two to a 25-mile route, up and over all four of Aspen's ski mountains: Snow Mass, Buttermilk, Highlands, Aspen Mountain. Racers log about 11,000 vertical feet. The Reside team finished just TWO SECONDS off the lead, finishing the race in 5:29:25. What a finish! Congratulations to Smithy and Wick. For more on the 'Power of Four', click .
Reside Pro Athletes, Jari Kirkland and Brian Smith, won their divisions at the gruelling, '12 Hours of Mesa Verde' endurance mountain bike race near Cortez, CO. last weekend. Jari crushed the Women's Solo Division by a wide margin, and Brian Smith made up a 4 minute gap on the last lap of the race to win the Men's Duo Divison by 18 seconds! Reside Pro Athlete, Brian Smith, has won the all around "Ultimate Mountain Challenge" division at the Teva Mountain Games in Vail, CO. Brian's combined time for the Nordic Ski, Uphill and Ski Mountaineering events was 5:12:29, more than 4 minutes ahead of the seconf place finisher.
